Q. Are the free vacuums really free?
A.Absolutely. As a customer of Blue Iguana Car Wash, once you’ve washed you may use any of our industrial strength vacuums so you can clean your car to your satisfaction. Take your time unless the parking lot is full and then we would ask that you limit your time to 10 minutes so other customers can vacuum as well.
Q. Don’t car washes waste water?
A. We use the latest in water conservation technology and reuse a lot of the water most other car washes throw away. That way, we use a minimum amount of new water per wash. Washing a car at home uses much more water than we do! Before our waste-water is discharged to the sanitary sewer system, we remove oil and dirt. And unlike washing a car in the driveway, we never release waste-water to storm drains, surface waters, or to the ground. This is our community too and we want to keep it clean! We share with our customers the desire to conserve water and protect the environment.
Q. Why not wash my car in my driveway?
A. Because it only costs $3 and it only takes 3 minutes of your time. Cars that are washed in the street can pollute our rivers, streams and oceans. The soapy water that runs off the car into the gutters goes into the storm water system. Storm water, unlike the water which enters the sewers, does not undergo treatment before it is discharged into our waterways. Any pollutants washed off the car and the detergents go down into the ground and into our storm water and the end up in our drinking water as well as lakes, rivers, harbors and oceans.
Q. Is washing my car going to help it?
A. Unquestionably washing your car helps it. Here are a few suggestions to maintain the finish of your car.
- Wash off bugs as soon as possible. The acid from the bugs will eat the cars finish.
- Wash off tree sap as soon as you notice it. Tree sap will stick to your car’s finish and becomes baked on especially in the summer heat if not removed immediately.
- Wash salt off vehicles to keep the car in good condition and the paint from deteriorating.
- Wash off bird droppings as soon as possible. Bird droppings also contain acid that will eat at the clear coat and painted surface of your car’s finish.
